We’re excited to announce our upcoming Open Pairs Gala Competition, taking place at Royston Bowling Club on the bank holiday Monday 25th August! This is a fantastic opportunity to put your skills to the test, whether you’re a seasoned bowler or in your first year!

• Date: Bank Holiday Monday 25th August

• Entry Limit: Maximum of 28 participants

• Entry Basis: First come, first serve – don’t miss out!

• Prize Pool: We have an amazing £400 prize pool, thanks to our wonderful sponsors at Newlings of Royston

📋 Competition Rules

1. In general, BOWLS ENGLAND rules apply.

2. Each session will consist of 8 ends with no trial ends.

3. Each session will start on the bell. The jack may not be cast to start the first end until the bell has rung.

4. Each pair will play 4 sessions of 8 ends.

5. One hour will be allowed per session. The last end must not be played if less than 5 minutes remain.

6. A killed or void end may be replayed if sufficient time remains.

7. If the last end is killed, a penalty of two shots will be taken from the pair responsible.

8. If an umpire is required, the organiser or a player from a non-playing session may be called on.

9. Skips must leave the head together and may not revisit it.

10. The winner of each session receives 2 points. In the case of a draw, 1 point each.

11. The competition will be won by the team with the most points. Ties will be decided by shot difference, then by the number of ends won.

12. All scorecards must be handed in to the organiser after each session.

13. The organiser’s decision is final.
