Bowls’ Big Weekend 2022

At Royston Bowling Club, we are once again feeling excited about the club opening for the summer season and the opportunity for our members to getting back out onto the green. It’s also a great time to get new people bowling as people are looking for local activities.

As part of a national initiative, we are one of hundreds of clubs taking part in Bowls’ Big Weekend between 27th and 29th May 2022. We are opening our doors to anyone who wants to give bowls a try on Saturday 28th May 2022 between 10am and 4pm and will be setting up have-a-go sessions for free. People will be able to test their skills and also get a feel for our club. Bowls is a naturally socially distanced and non-contact sport so, whilst we may have to manage numbers, people can enjoy it safely.

The only item you will need to provide are flat soled shoes such as trainers, bowls and other equipment will be provided.

There’ll be fun competitions, refreshments on offer and lots of laughs. We’ll be putting measures in place to ensure your experience will be delivered in a Covid-safe manner.

It’s normal to feel a little apprehensive about starting something new, but bowls is a sport that is easy to take up and you’ll be assured a warm welcome.  It is very doable, whatever your physical ability, relatively inexpensive and is really sociable.

It’s a great sport to spend time (and maybe enjoy a little healthy competition!) with family and bowls clubs are a perfect place to relax over a cup of tea or something a little stronger. Our bar will be open throughout the day.

Bowls is a fantastic, fun sport for all ages and abilities. It is affordable, brings families together and provides a great social environment for local residents. For many of our older members, it provides a perfect way to keep fit and connected with our local community.

If you are interested please contact us – we look forward to welcoming you to our club.
